On line discussion about the movie Renoir
Sunday August 23rd, 2pm
Zoom
Do your miss our movie afternoons as much as we do? Good news: they are back, only in a slightly different format allowing us to social distance!
You can watch the movie in the comfort of your own home, but still can discuss it afterwards with other members of the Alliance Française!
For this month we have selected the movie Renoir.
Renoir is a 2012 French drama film based on the last years of Pierre-Auguste Renoir at Cagnes-sur-Mer, a town at the French Côte d'Azur, during World War I.
The film tells the forgotten story of Andrée Heuschling, who was the last model of impressionist painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir and the first actress in the films of his son, the film director Jean Renoir. Andrée was the link between two famous and widely acclaimed artists, a father and son. While the father is at the end of his brilliant career, the son is still searching for himself, his great career as one of the most celebrated movie directors having not yet begun.
Interesting anecdote about the paintings in the movie: director Gilles Bourdos used the services of a convicted art forger, Guy Ribes, to create and re-create the Renoir paintings in live action on screen.
The movie is available for free on www.tubitv.com well as on Amazon Prime.
Please note this is an R rated movie
Join us August 23rd @ 2pm for moderated chat about the movie
This event is free for members.
