About
Alliance Francaise de Jacksonville belongs to a network of around 800 French Alliances in the world, of which over 100 are in the United States.
Founder
The association was founded in 1962 by Suzanne Carrell, also the founder of Congress of French Culture, an annual meeting of the Francophone in Florida which has been held in Orlando for more than 60 years.
Progress
AFJax, a social club in its early days, has gradually developed over the years and now has a Language School with its own premises, organizes cultural events each month, and participates in the promotion of Jacksonville-France exchanges, in particular in partnership with the Jacksonville Sister Cities Association and the committee dedicated to twinning with the city of Nantes.
Each year, several group classes and private sessions are offered for children and adults of all levels.
Culturetheque
With access to a new online service, members can access their favorite French magazine or daily newspaper, watch concerts, listen to conferences, read books and comics, and develop their French skills directly from their computer, tablet or smartphone.
Volunteer Opportunities
In constant development, we are always looking for volunteers to participate in various areas: organization of events, creation of communication media, promotion of the association, establishment of partnerships, etc. Email us at contact@afjacksonville.org if you are interested!
