Program for the New Season 2011-2012
The Board of Directors of the Alliance Française
of Jacksonville would like to invite you to join them for the program of the new season 2011-2012. We would
like to go on with the theme of “Le Tour des Provinces de France/Around the provinces of France” that we started
this past year. The few presentations offered by our own members
were diverse and informative. We would like to thank Chloe Gossart who closed our program
for the season on June 21, Fête de la Musique, and talked about Clermont-Ferrand and Auvergne. She is back now in her
hometown. We welcome any suggestions, or offers for a presentation.

November 8 to 14: National French Week is celebrated all over the United States by French teachers and their students,
Francophile and francophone who are interested in Francophone cultural activities. Different events will
take place in JAX High Schools, according to the creativity/ interest of the French classes, and
their instructors. For example, For the National French Week 2011, groups of students are going to participate
in the Festival de la Pétanque in Fernandina Beach, and have a team enter the competition, on Saturday November 12,
2011. It would be really “cool” if we could have a few French speaking people interested in helping the instructors
speak French with the students, and encourage in French the competitors as they are playing. What do you
say, members, any volunteers? (For information, contact Professor Cheryl Thingvold at Orange Park High school, cathingvold@mail.clay.k12.fl.us or Professor Lauren Doyle at Mandarin High School, doylel2@duvalschools.org
